The Music Ministry at First Lutheran Church is designed to not only complement and enhance the worship services, but also to help our members and the community at large experience the gift of music God gives to His people for their enjoyment and appreciation.

We have vocal choirs in the church and school ranging in age pre-school to adults.  We also have bell choirs and instrumental ensembles to enhance our special worship services.  Our purpose is always to praise God and beautify our services for the meaningful worship of all in attendance.

Our organ is a German built Beckerath tracker-action with 22 ranks of pipes.  It was installed in 1974.  This instrument is specially suited to the music traditionally associated with the Lutheran Church.  We are very pleased to offer a quality musical experience at First and sincerely hope that all who attend our services will agree.

Our director of music and organist is Ed. Niedens.  We also have the capable organist help of Mrs Ruth Couch and Mr. Wayne Poore.  The teachers of various grades in our school also serve as choir directors for our school choirs.  We invite everyone to attend our services and also to become a part of our musical family.

Handbell Choir

The Handbells Choir program at First Lutheran actually consist of two different yet complimentary groups.  Both groups actively participate in the worship life of the congregation and play alternate Sundays during the church year during morning worship and at other special services.

First Bells meets at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings for rehearsal.  Lutheran Ringers meets on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m.

We have a three octave set of English Handbells manufactured by Malmark Handbells Inc.  We currently have twenty five ringers between the two choirs.  Membership is open to anyone willing to practice and play hard.
